After an entire life time of obesity I finally made the decision in 2007 to drop the weight for good. My highest weight was 272 pounds and I lost 60 pounds, with 35 more to go. I primarily lost this weight by eating a low carbohydrate diet. This blog is to educate others on the merits of eating low carb and why I believe the standard American diet of eating a high carbohydrate diet is what is causing the obesity epidemic in the United States.

Hi Michelle. I stumbled across your blog while researching low carb sites. I’ve been reading through your archives for the last hour! Excellent insight. I have now subscribed.
I do have a question I could not find in any of the blogs…what whey protein powder do you use?? I am already a low carb devotee…but I am interested in the idea of adding more protein to the diet. Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much for your comments. I typically use two whey protein powders, depending on my cash flow: Syntrax Nectar. It is pure whey protein isolate and
Gold Standard Whey. Gold Standard is a mixture of whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate. One scoop typically has 20-24 grams or protein. I usually drink 2 a day, one in the morning and one as a mid morning snack. I typically use unsweetened almond milk to mix the whey since it has no sugar.
